Un logement sera d'autant plus confortable que les cloisons qui contribuent à los angeles distribution des pièces auront été bien conçues. Si les murs porteurs sont définitifs et inamovibles, les cloisons, elles, offrent une infinie liberté d'agencement ; elles permettent par exemple d'aménager des pièces dans un grand espace, de compartimenter une pièce trop grande ou encore de délimiter un espace bureau mais elles vont surtout servir à organiser son habitation en zones de vie bien distinctes.

By 1863, the lingua franca of the Sudanese Battalion would have evolved into rustic Sudanese Arabic. Recruits who had recently arrived from their tribal homelands might at first have almost no Arabic, not even the bare bones of trade Arabic picked up from pedlars plying among their villages. Their first step would be to seek out others from their own tribe. Those from the Nuba Mountains, having closer contact with Arabic-speaking neighbors, might have a somewhat larger vocabulary of basic Arabic words than those, for example, from the Western Nile tributaries.
